10/50.- Brussels, The Rue Neuve

The Rue Neuve (New Street) is one of the most popular (though not the poshest) shopping precincts in Brussels. It is here that in May 1967 the Innovation department store burnt down to the ground, claiming the lives of over 300 victims. The street is supposed to be a pedestrian precinct, but there are always one or two building sites, and in the morning the street is jammed with delivery trucks.
