Brussels, The Brussels Park
The Brussels Park, with intricate Masonic symbolism hidden
in its layout, stands between the Royal Palace and the Government
Building (Senate and Parliament). Some of the battles for the
liberation of Belgium in 1830 were fought here. More recently,
thousands of Belgians gathered here to celebrate the beginning
of the new century. The park contains a playground for children,
a theatre, a clubhouse, two fountains, refreshment and ice cream
stalls, and a number of rectangular lawns, which are popular
with civil servants and employees from the surrounding banks
and ministries during their lunchtime break.
