27/50.- Brussels, The Hallepoort
The Hallepoort or Porte de Hal is one of the
remnants of the former city walls. The walls have been torn
down, but their layout is still clearly recognisable, as it
has been turned into a heart-shaped boulevard circling the city
centre. The fortifications have disappeared, but their sites
still bear the names of the various gates: Porte de Flandre,
Porte de Namur, etc.
